The object : body and cast |
|
The first body of the objects is out of bee wax, their first cast clay. The first form is left to dry for a few days, before being melted in the fire. In the fire, the wax returns to its original liquid form. Only the clay cast is left; it awaits a new body, the object’s second form.
In a bowl amidst the flames, silver becomes liquid. It is ready to enter its new body of clay. In its new body, and out of the flames’ reach, the silver quickly takes the form of its new clay body becomes a form in it self. It no longer needs its cast, and thus the cast returns to the earth. The silver form is naked in the hands of the blacksmith who is to give it a soul. |
